With CV-22 Osprey arriving to replace it, the last 3 of 6 MH-53 Pave Low helicopters departed New Mexico today: http://www.koat.com/news/13360597/detail.html

From the Super Jolly Green Giant over skies of North Vietnam to the formidable MH-53 variant in AFSOC service, the 53 has established a formidable legacy. Too bad AFSOC never leveraged the power of Navy and Marine Corps 53E version as the Pave Lows don't quite have the oomph to operate in the mountains of Afghanistan leaving the heavy lifting to the MH-47 and CH-53Es. No wonder the first pick for CSAR-X was a 47 variant. Regardless, the Pave Low deserves a special place in aviation history.
