My apologies, just been looking back at the metars and it doesn't make any sense that I was advised not to fly on Sunday 15th nov 2009 , I may have made an incorrect entry as Saturday 14th wind was gusting strong at EGBJ. Embarassed

I really couldn't say with any authority whether matching windspeed is of benefit or hindrance. As with all such things, I'm sure there will be a multitude of variables but it would be interesting to see some empirical data.

In any event, slow is a prudent choice if you have any doubts. Decisions can often speak more about a pilot's competence than simple handling ability.
