How difficult did/do you find the CPL(H) syllabus?
Piece of cake - read it all once and passed with flying colours!

There's quite a lot of it but nothing too difficult.

Having read continuously(ish) for about 9 weeks my head feels kind of funny Shocked.

Anyone else out there suffered/suffering from new infomation overload? How to cope - motivation has dwindled... I can feel frustration building up as I fail to get my head round new subjects.

Just venting really and a cliche shared is a cliche halved after all! Thumbs Up

Anyone else's tales of woe (perhaps a bit melodramtic!) or understanding would be greatly recieved! Or are you all boffins who take/took it all in yer stride?!

Hi IB!

I am just about to start week 4. As we have modified the syllabus to do do three subjects at once with the first exams in November, I am still finding there is an AWFUL lot of new information to take in, especially with Air Law. Crying or Very sad

I couldn't imagine adding more subects to what I am doing at the moment. Can I ask which ones you are doing? A couple of us are studying together and have decided to tackle Human Performance, Air Law and Comms as our first lot of subjects.

We are also trying to figure out (assuming, or rather hoping we will pass these in November) what to take in January. The January exams are right after new year, so it's a bit tricky to work out whether we'll be in a fit state to do several difficult ones, or just limit it to one or two (maybe Nav or Met). Either that or cancel Christmas this year! lol! We obviously don't want to run out of attempts - that would be awful.

Anyway, I agree - my brain hurts too. After reading all yesterday I had a thumping headache. When do you study by the way? I am trying to do 2-3 full days every week. I can't work in the evening - I fall asleep!! Wink

Hello WG - it would seem we are the only ones around these parts currently studying for CPL(H)...

Module one of the notes I have is for the following exams:

Air Law
Human Performance & Limitations
Aircraft General Knowledge (and Instruments in another folder)
VFR Comms.
Principles of Flight

I have finished (i.e read twice and highlighted all salient points!) HP&L, VFR Comms and Principles of Flight. Was aiming for November too but think I need a break now and really do not think rushing or cramming is a good idea...

I am slightly concerned about taking a break and forgetting everything though! Tough call...

I am lucky enough to be able to devote as much or as little time as I want to this so have being trying to treat it like a job i.e 9 to 5 Mon to Fri (ish!). I can't read in the evenings either!

Be interested to hear of your exam experiences, as I'm sure would others, if I don't make Nov. and you do...

Our module 1 is as follows:

Human Performance and Limitations
Aviation Law
VFR Comms
General Navigation
Radio Navigation
Meteorology

We decided to do the first three to start with. I had a few days without studying this week as we were at HeliTech - I felt really guilty that I hadn't done any reading!! Sadly I also felt I had forgotten things, so I think you need to be studying (regularly) for it to stick.

Good to know I am not alone! Very Happy

Hi
My advice is don't stop now - no breaks or you will not remember all you have studied.

How's it going IB? My brain is still hurting, but I do feel a little more knowledgeable after 8 weeks of reading like a madwoman!! Yikes!

I'd love to, but I have a deadline to get all this work done, and I have got about 11 chapters to read this weekend! Yikes!

I take it you're trying to rope more people into going to the lake?

If you'd like to swap you can do my ground school and I will go to the lake! Wink

Oh, for the day the exams are over!!!

At least there's the Christmas bash to look forward to - I am really withdrawn, I haven't flown for about 3 weeks! Sad

Hmm. I would, but it does mean that I don't go to the lake. So I don't really see the point of that. If no-one else is going, I probably won't either. If for no other reason than I want it to be nice and sunny when I do (finally) get there.

Yep back on the study - I had a couple of weeks out. My skull was at saturation point. Although I am on it again I am taking it a bit easier... Small bits seem to stick better. BLME was right though - started to forget stuff after 2 weeks but I have enough time to pick it all back up...

Good luck in November and let us all know how you found it.

Hi fellow study people,

Think how enjoyable all this learning is!

When it is over we can all look back and think thank GOD that we had the perseverance to do it.

None of it will be wasted and for future learning we will be well prepared.

Keep it up.
