Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to put together a searchable database of helicopter technical terms. It is now functional but needs content! I will be adding to it as and when I have time (I just compiled 181 MET terms for the Meteorology Encyclopedia so I've had just about enough of it for today!!), however please feel free to contribute to it if you'd like to see a particular definition listed! Hopefully it will add to the resourcefulness of the site and help people to learn more, especially those studying for exams. Very Happy

Also, if you notice anything on there which you feel needs correcting, please post on this thread and we can ammend it - this will help us to ensure that the encyclopedia remains as up to date and accurate as possible.

Thanks,

WhirlyGirl Cool

Good idea Wink

You mean stuff like

ROD = Rate of decent
T.O.T = Turbine Output Temp
O.S = Oh Sh*t

Laughing

I'll put the old thinking cap on and consult my POH!

FMH - a safety device in reach of pilot not flying, sahped like a handle - FM handle (see above!)

I went to make a few additions, but nothing shows up in the "encyclopedia" after I add something. The "technical terms" are rather lacking.

You're right, it doesn't seem to be working anymore! I will look into it and post a message when it's all working again! Very Happy

Thanks for the tip - no wonder it's empty! Rolling Eyes

Tried again, it still doesn't work. How can anybody learn without a glossary of terms? Rolling Eyes

lol! Sorry biskit, since we re-coded the site the old Encyclopedia module no longer works at all. I will let you know when I have installed the new one, just researching the best one to use at the moment! Very Happy

"Gizmachee"

Root; Gizmo

Noun; That one piece of equipment under the cowling that the examiner asks you about, whose function entirely escapes you!

As in: "Well sir, that little gizmachee helps regulate the fuel flow."

Whirlygirl

You can borrow mine while yours is broken, not as good as yours as you can't update it over the web, but its a start.

Gary,

Thanks! It was designed for the old site and when we upgraded the system the module became obsolete. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to make a new one. Maybe one day... Rolling Eyes
