As discussed at the Christmas Party, it would be nice to list some regular dates in 2007 for possible fly-ins. The beautiful blue sky I can see when I look out of the window today has prompted me to post this - how is it we are not graced with this kind of weather when we have actually booked a helicopter?! Dunno

Anyway, on with the list... I will suggest some dates and then if you contribute your availability and venue ideas we can modify the plan and see how it develops from there. I know we didn't do too well with our 2006 list, so I will get the ball rolling by including a mix of week days and weekends in January and February - I am aware that not everyone is going to be able to make every single date, but it would be nice to have a regular meeting of some sort going on so that there's always a choice of people to meet with and venues and visit. Perhaps we can keep this thread going throughout the year and modify it as and when someone has a date or an idea in mind.

April:

May:

Sunday 6th - Abingdon Fayre

June:

July:

August:

September:

October:

November:

December:

I will work on the venue ideas but if you have any suggestions please do say so! What do you all fancy doing? I'd quite like to visit places further afield so we can get to meet with some HeliTorquers say from the north, or down south. If you want us to arrange a visit to your local airfield, or to a heli-friendly hotel near you, please let us know. What about also some events like flying to a go-carting track, or even a visit to the helicopter museum or down to NATS at Swanwick? I'm open to all suggestions and welcome volunteers to help us make these get-togethers happen! Drivers are ALWAYS welcome too if you can't make it by air.

Let me know what you think, and let's make 2007 a great flying year.

I had the same thought today as I was driving home from work at lunch - rang Sloane's and no-one was free!

I would love to go to NATS if it can be arranged?

On the subject of Karting, I have been twice to Big Thunder at Bruntingthorpe. They lay it on like a "Corporate Day," and I have had brilliant fun both times, and they are very Heli friendly! It was my initial flight into there that got me hooked.

If anybody is interested I would be happy to arrange a day there one Sat late in Feb?? Shall I start another thread?

HC.

Craig,

Which date are you thinking about for Karting? Do they normally do Saturdays or are Sundays an option too? Perhaps if you suggest a few alternative dates people can see if they are free. It sounds like fun. By all means start a new thread off in the events section, and once we're decided on a date I will add it to the list above.

I'll make a few enquiries re NATS - I have been before but didn't organise it last time and it was a couple of years ago now. Flying down to Southampton is an option there, but I don't know if there's a landing site any closer to Swanwick.

I believe Swanwick is quite close to Portsmouth so is probably mid way between Southampton and Goodwood.

A visit to NATS could be combined with the weekend to the IOW.

Another thought on Karting could be Thruxton, there is of course an airfield in the centre of the main circuit with the Karting circuit just outside.
Good place for some of the southerly people to visit.

New thread started to discuss karting options!!

We can come back and put the date on the schedule above once we've sorted out the programme.

I would have thought so. Since it has rained at the BBQ 3 years running hopefully we will have better luck this time. Laughing

Anybody know the dates yet?

I've got a good plan.... Very Happy

August 2007 - Fly in to my Birthday party! Cool It's just after WSM, possibly Saturday 11/08/07, staying overnight if possible, so bring a sleeping bag!

The more helicopters the better - Longs & Lats to follow when "her indoors" gets a plan together.

That sounds great! Thanks for the invitation! Smile

When you get a definite date sorted out we'll put it on the calendar.

All the best,

Hi guys, there seems to be no recent postings here regarding dates beyond February. Anything happening from there onwards? if I came to one it'd be my first which makes me a torque-virgin so be gentle with me! I'll look out for postings Heli Boy

Hi Fireflyer,

Do you want to suggest some dates in March and April you are available and we'll work from there. It would be nice to get these fly-ins going again.

One fly-in could be the Abingdon Air and Country Fayre on 6th May at Abingdon Airfield.

For more information go to www.abingdonfayre.com

The Whirlies and Rotorcraig usually fly in. It is usually a good event and always a good turnout of both helicopters and planks.

One special visitor again is a US Army Blackhawk from SHAPE in Belgium.

It would be good to see a few more heli's there.

The website has contact details for PPR.

TC, might we see you and that lovely green 206 there this year.

One idea for a fly-in this year. What about a helitorque outing to Hawarden to see Catwoman and blme later in the year.
