First of all, I realise that there is a thread about the safety course, but I still thought it worth starting a new thread as it is a different event to the 2006 course.

I would like to do the safety course, and, having spoken to Sloanes, found that their next scheduled course is 5th Feb. As I can't make this, I am hoping I can muster up 3 others to join me in propsing another date. Is anyone else interested?

If Sloane Joe is still around, maybe you can help us out?

Cheers,
Steve

Count me in! I didn't make it to the 2006 safety course in the end and I have been meaning to re-book for ages. Which dates do you have in mind?

I don't have any particular dates, but my preference is a Friday or Saturday, followed by the flying part on the Saturday or Sunday. I suppose that April or May would be good for me, but I am quite flexible really. Do you have a date preference? Anyone else up for it?

If SloaneJoe still frequents these parts I'd be interested to know how this course compares to the 2.5 day course in terms of recognition within the helicopter industry. When I was in Australia last year I was not allowed to hire unless I had completed the Safety course. If the answers are not forthcoming here I wil go back to Sloanes and ask them.

Cheers,
Steve

I'm up for the 1d safety course in 2007.

Spoke with Sarah and Joe a few times about doing it in 2006, but eventually ran out of holiday Sad

As none of you know me, and I have not met any of you, gauging committment may be less than easy, but let's go for it. I am going to phone Slaones and say I have 4 people to do the course, so please run a course on a particular day.

The four people are:

me (stickjames)
rotorcraig
heligraig
Whirlygirl

I will try for for Friday 6th April followed by a flying day on 7th.

If you are not in a position to book on that day (6th as the flying day can be arranged separately), please let me know and suggest an alternative day.
If you are not in a position to book (i.e. cannot commit) please also let me know.
I don't have a problem with either of these scenarios, it is just that I want to book something definite. Smile
If you are thinking "Yes let's go for it" then please confirm this too.

I Look forward to hearing from and then meeting you.

6th April sounds fine with me. I've put it in my diary. Not too sure I can stay and do the flying the next day as I may have to work, but I can definitely be available for the course on the Friday, if that suits Joe.

Having said all that about making firm bookings, I'm really Really sorry, but I am going to let you both down Sad . I have just been orffered a place on a Richard Sanford course, nearer to home (Aeromega at Cambridge), which I think would be a better bet for me.I did ask how many places there are, but they are giving priority to their customers (I learned with them). I didn't look for the course, it just popped through my letterbox this morning (bizarre coincedence).

I do feel quite bad about this as I do not normally drop out of things once arranged.

I will try to arrange something else in the summer to make up for it.

Cheers,
Steve

Perhaps they read our forums and spotted you! Wink

Don't worry about canceling - perhaps we can still go ahead and organise something definite for rotorcraig, myself and anyone else who would like to do the course. There will always be another event we can all meet up at anyhow.

Best wishes,

A number of us keep threatening to go on the one day Safety Course at Sloane Helicopters in Northampton, but never get round to it!

Thanks for that rotorcraig, seems nothing's been arranged then! I checked your link with Sloane so I'm informed now, if things change hopefully someone will post.

My local school in Perth is organising one for next month. I think Tim Tucker is coming over from the States to host it. It was advertised in helidata I think or PM me for more info.

May be useful for anybody in the northern half of the UK?
