Hey guys I am a newbie here and just had a few ?'s. I am starting school in Oregon here shortly and wanted to know if there is really as much work out there for pilots as the schools are saying and what kind of pay am I looking at after getting my magical 1000 hrs of flight. I plan on being a CFII when I am all done and then going on to train untill I get my hours to 1000-1200. After that I would really like to Do tours, news, police or ems. I have no desire to go out of the country or GOM. Also whats the Best things about being a pilot and what are the worst things about being a pilot. Thanks

Can I suggest that you crack on with your plan...do the training and then build the hours with the rotary instruction.
As to what you want to do afterward, I'd avoid making decisions now about what you do or don't want to do later. Keep your eyes and options open. My advice, do as much flying as you can, get a turbine conversion, instrument rating and maybe some multi time all of which will make you more marketable later on.

Well, the job/hour building is not bad except that there is a charge of $18,500 for the tour operator's transition course in the R-44. You won't make that in the summer period at $250 a week. _________________ "A Copter Pilot's Life has it's... ups and downs"
