I am based in Oxfordshire but am happy to go with the flow and travel if need be. Midlands would be a good bet maybe.

For me its quite easy to get time off during the week so either weekday or weekend are good for me depending on whether there are events on.

Perhaps its something that could be held at one of the helicopter / operators somewhere in the country.

Just out of interest; what entitlement (if any) does the qualification give the holder especially regarding employment?
also is it a time limited qualification i.e. it runs out after x number of years?
Do you also have to have a current first aid certificate?

Thanks in advance

The Basic course qualification is a City & Guilds Level 1 RVQ.

In terms of employment, it shows that the holder has been trained to a recognised and quantifiable standard far in excess of an 'adequate level'. (If someone can define 'adequate', please let me know).

As with most professional qualifications, we have set a re-validation limit. In this case it is three years.

You do not need any previous qualifications or certificates to be eligible for the Basic course.

Please e-mail me if you would like further information, with a phone number so I can call you.

Thanks for the reply.
3 years seems fair especially for those that ground crew a couple of times a year.

I'm guessing for someone who does it regularly e.g. at least a few times a month CPD (continual professional development) will mean progression onto higher levels to a point where a professional qualification for life is held.
Is this correct?

If so, at what standard does the qualification last for a lifetime?

Thanks in advance.

The City & Guilds qualification is valid for life, as is an O or A level, degree, etc.

We recommend re-validating - maybe 'refreshing' is a better word - every three years to keep up with advances in equipment, techniques and legislation. The re-val is at the discretion of the individual.

Hope this helps.

We seem to have a few volunteers for this course so if I go out on a limb and say I dont mind organising, booking sorting out a venue etc for somewhere in the midlands. Can we get enough people together ??? Please post your interest below or drop me a pm and when we get enough people together I will start crunching numbers Very Happy

I am still keen to run courses for those who have shown an interest.

Can we have a head count of those who are still interested.

Please include:

Your location and how far you are willing to travel.

Your availability (including weekends). It is still holiday season, so it might be best to look at September onwards.

Would you prefer a one-day or two-day course. (Course cost may well be the same for 1 or 2 days - Subject to venue costs). Although this course is do-able in one long day, it is more relaxed if spread over two.

Please post your replies here, you can e-mail me with questions or post them here if you think your question is relevant to others.
