I want one of these. What sort of file type can I use and how do I get it small enough?

I need basic instructions here - although I am not totally IT illiterate, some aspects of technology have passed me by!!.

Cheers

Well judging by the fact most are photos I guessed and used JPEG and it worked.

Just open it in any photo editing software and reduce it using the resize option, resave it then upload it.

Not sure about using weblinks though..

Find a nice piccy of yourself / your helicopter / anything you like(!) which is saved somewhere on your computer. Resize it so it's maximum 80 x 80 pixels (in a graphics program) and save as a JPEG with compression so that the file size is less than 8k. Then you can go to your profile and press "upload avatar" down the bottom to choose the file from your hard disk.

If that went over your head at FL245 send me the picture and I'll do it for you...!! Smile

There's a bit about avatars here: http://www.helitorque.com/forum/faq.php#11 As for posting URL's Pilotwolf, if you just type in the web address with the "http" bit at the front it should show up as a link. Otherwise click on the URL button when you are posting and then click it again at the end of the link to close the tag.

Alternatively, stick to flying... it's much less complicated!! Hehe!

Thanks guys,

Tried to do as you suggest and all I ended up with was a small corner of the photo, rather than a reduced size photo. I don't have any proper photo editing software so that might have been the limitations of the programme I am using.

Whirlygirl, please can you let me know your e-mail address so I can attach the photo. Sorry, copping out here!

Cheers
