Hi there, was just wondering how much an average instructor takes home per month?

Basically, i'm at the 170hr ish mark with just a PPL and am trying to decide a big leap in my life of whether to stay in my comfortably paid job and wait a couple of years whilst saving, or to bang out and ask for a massive 30k loan from Barclays!!? From previous investigation, i think instructors take on average 12000 a year after you consider the winter/summer takings....

Any help guys?

40-60 per flying hour depending on who/what/where.

Maybe a nominal retainer to keep you onsite to do non-flying duties when the flying is quiet.

Then it boils down to how many hours a year you can do. Completely dependent upon location, number of students, number of other instructors, aircraft serviceability etc.

I think 12k is very conservative; that is more like fixed-wing instructor pay.

Thanks for the reply. Well i'm at Rise Aviation at the moment down in Gloucester and it's a pretty busy school. I take it that the south is busier than the north of England?

So how much do fixed wing instructors get paid per hour then? 30 ish?
