.............for students which would it be?

Currently i'm finding Phil Croucher's Private Helicopter Pilot Studies a much more easy read that the likes of Wagtendonk's book.

The Hairy Catapiller.

Oh sorry I thought you ment my first book.

I would suggest a copy of Shawn Coyles: Cyclic & Collective. A very good book and very easy to understand.

Well, although I found Wag,'s book very interesting and thorough, it is a bit on the technical side.

I think you might like the FAA Rotorcraft Flying Handbook.........especially since it is free to download.

http://www.faa.gov/search/?q=rotorcraft+flying+handbook

You will find that there is no "one book". The more you read, the more you learn, and the more you learn, the more you understand.......
the more you understand, the more books you buy! Smile

Good luck

Thanks chaps.

As it happens I have got all of the books mentioned BUT because I have got SO many of them I was hoping you could recommend the main ones to concentrate on.

Are the exams as difficult as the books would make out?

Geoff's new book Helicopter Aerodynamics Made Simple is an excellent choice! It's the one he uses for POF on his instructor courses and the feedback from the PPL students so far is very good.
