Bond Aviation Group introduces AW139 to fleet
June 02, 2011
Bond Offshore Helicopters, part of the Bond Aviation Group, one of Europe's largest helicopter operators, has announced a £50 million contact award with Perenco that will see the introduction of two new Agusta Westland AW139 aircraft.
Following proposals given to Perenco (UK) Ltd, the international Oil & Gas company, Bond has been awarded a four-year contract from 1 May 2011, expanding the services the company provides to Perenco in the Southern North Sea under a current contract.
The aircraft, the first Agusta Westland helicopters in the Bond fleet, have a capacity to carry 12 passengers and will operate from Norwich Airport from where an existing AS36N3 currently operates for Perenco, with a second 365N3 based offshore.
The first of the new aircraft has already been delivered to Bond's operating base in Norwich and has undergone modifications to prepare it for offshore operations including its distinctive "Bond Red" paint scheme. The second AW139 was delivered at the end of May and is currently awaiting modification.
Bill Munro, Bond Offshore Helicopters' Managing Director, said: "This new contract is an important step forward, signalling a good performance so far this year. The introduction of AW139s is the next phase in our fleet development and a springboard for the wider use of AW139s in the UK and internationally. This supports further expansion of our offshore services, fleet size and job creation."
The introduction of the AW139s brings the Bond Aviation fleet to a total of 42 helicopters and sees the total number of Bond Aviation Group staff increase to 477.
