Question 1

I am wondering if there is a company that makes dyi repair manuals for helicopters out there like the Haynes manuals for cars or Seloc for boats.

Also wondering where one can get the manufactures book for a particular helicopter make/model. Would the manufacture like sikorsky allow you to buy them. Or are they just restricted to people within the industry.

Question 2
This may sound like a stupid question but I am wondering
I know there are a lot of people out there with there own aircrafts for recreation
Does there exist recreational helicopters that one can buy.
I.E I see a lot of private airplane owners of pipers , Cessna ,...etc
But I was wondering if there was an equivalent for helicopters all I have every seen is medical choppers, rescue choppers , forest fire choppers , and arm based choppers. Didn't know if there was ones for sport or recreation like they are for airplanes
I am talking about really choppers not toy remote control ones or light weight (no license based ones ... those are cool but basically lawn mower blades on a stick attached to a seat)

The consequences for a mug doing bad work on a private car might not be so serious - it stops by the side of the road and the embarrassed owner waits for a tow truck.

The consequences of a mug working on a helicopter are a bit more serious, falling from the sky in a blazing mess.

So, to answer your query, NO, there are no DIY manuals for helicopters. You can buy the workshop manuals for a real helicopter, and they would probably only cost $30,000 with an amendment service.

The nearest thing to a sports car in the rotary world would be a Cabrio or an R22. Start saving now.
