Heh! Nothing as spectacular as a John Noakes episode, thankfully! I did however crick my neck on the final bend, and it's still a bit sore now!

Brilliant fun though - I'd do it again in a shot (with a neck-brace probably!) - the feeling of speed towards the lower end of the track was awesome! I'm told it would have been around 60mph. And the bob was on wheels, more of a "bobcar" than bobsleigh.

Just returned from Weston-Super-Mare! Once again the BBQ was a wash out, but the beer tasted just as good. Laughing Weather was pretty kind on Friday and today though - some photos will follow when I've had a chance to download all 4GB of RAW images! Yikes!

It was great to meet even more fellow helitorquers, plus the usual mob! Hopefully a few people we met who havent joined us yet will be signing up...

I went on Saturday. Took 3hrs 30mins to drive 58miles! I was expecting more civil and military helicopters at the event.

I saw a few R44's fly out with a AS350/355 (Around 4pm?), anyone from here? Oh and G-NUTY flew after a very long inspection.

Hi Andy!

We were standing right beside G-NUTY when it took off. Got really covered in sand from the downwash!! Were you there? Shocked

John Noakes had a go at the Cresta Run; after loads of training for the "one that counts", he ended up crossing the finishing line flat on his back, with his arse acting as the brake for the sleigh!!!

Probably the most memorable bit of it, was afterwards, in the comfort of the TV studio, he turned away from the camera to show "everyone at home" his spectacular bruise!! Shocked Laughing

WhirlyGirl,

I was only there for an hour, i decided to leave and head for Cribs Causeway!

When the guy was checking the main rotors i was sitting on the wall by one of the Jet Rangers, i saw it fly off as i was driving back along the front....

Just uploaded a few images to the HeliDays Gallery. Please feel free to add your own photos. We have a whole lot more than that but due to lack of time we have not mananged to convert them all from the RAW camera format. Such a shock to look at JPG files after drooling over the RAW ones. Crying or Very sad

P.S. A few to get you started...

Thanks Copterfan! That last one was down to WhirlyGuy. Razz

ISO 100. Didn't really change it. Should I have? Confused Still learning. Had a go at the arty farty shots with the wide angle lens too. Wink

Just uploaded a few more to the gallery. To be honest I should have gone to bed hours ago (got to get up in about 3 hours!) Yikes! so I could probably spend a bit more time playing with the RAW conversion settings. It's just a shame you lose so much converting them for the internet. Oh well. I really must go now.

Enjoy the photos and anyone else please upload your shots too, we'd love to see them!

Whirlygirl,

Great to meet the HeliTorque team at HeliDays.
Some great pictures. You even managed to capture the 'Lesser Spotted Yellow Air Ambulance'
What happened to the picture of the underside of G-SPEY?

Cheers

Ha, nice picture of my back there! Laughing
It was nice to meet you guys at Helidays, looks like you got some really good photos there, and you were lucky enough to get one of the Air Ambulance, while it was there for about 2 minutes..shame it couldn't attend for longer.

Helimarshaller, are you Steve?

Terrific pictures Whirls, bet you're pleased with that camera!! Very Happy

(As for ISO, I'm sure the pros will correct me, but I can't really tell much in the way of difference in graininess between ISO 100/200 and 400... they're all pretty crisp clear images!)
