I've got a question for any military pilots out there...

I'm currently working on my Commercial Rating, and will be getting deployed around month XXX to base XXX. I was just curious, I heard from other people that had been to base x that some of the helo pilots would give rides, just curious if a pilot that was deployed (non-military flying pilot) would steal a few min of SIC stick time, or if this was a "N.W.i.H" situation?

Thanks,

~Perez

Not sure what country your in so my comments may not help. In the US Army at least there is an army regulation that specifically states crew stations with flight controls can be occupied by rated (Military) aviators only. You "could" get a left seat ride in the OH-58 or OH-6 but the guys that work the hardest (crew chiefs etc) get first dibs on flying left seat on the very rare occasions that seat is open. It's not impossible to get a left seat ride, but luck and timing have more to do with it than anything else.

Well now that i'm here, are there any rotorheads at Balad (LSA Anaconda)? I wouldn't mind coming over and seeing some gun ships or anything else I can get my eye-holes on. I've got about 6 more weeks and wouldn't mind seeing some more helo's while over here. So far, i've only gotten around the HH60's.

Thanks!

corey.perez (on the base email) SSgt. 332emxg and phone is -6333, i'm right by the 130's ramp. Its best to reach me through the base e-mail if you can.
