Up until lunchtime today, my head felt like it still had a pair of earmuffs on the side.
It was good to see everyone again and meet new faces. Nice low level departures from Mark and Whirlyguy.
Like you Mark already looking forward to next year.
It was a pleasure to work with the display pilots. I've known some in the past to be quite arrogant with their head in the clouds( excuse any pun!).
Dunc Wylie, the hawk display pilot and the second Hawk pilot were really nice guys. As were the other visiting pilots, the JP couple from Newcastle, etc etc.
It was a pleasure to be marshalling at Abingdon.

It was a pleasure as always to marshall you all - Not a bad tally personally... UH60, Merlin, Chinook and R22's as well as the usual fixed wing.
When the Chinook arrived on Saturday it actually blew one of our marshallers away!!! - Not that he is complaining... Said it was a surreal moment... Mind you the Merlin did take out the fence and a PA speaker (nicely rearranged cone to it afterwards).
Sorry didn't get much chance to talk to folks but them's the breaks when you arm wave...
Least said about a certain R22 landing wonky the better eh?
Stay safe folks and see you at the sea-side...
Just to echo what has already been said here really. Great to meet up with everyone again. Really glad you could make it Craig and Mark as we would have felt a little small next to the Blackhawk all by ourselves!!
Great to see you too Gary and Martin and.... sorry I have forgotten the other marshallers name?
Thanks for marshalling us in. Very good work all around.
I felt this years display was a little less impressive than last years. I think because there was only the one heli display and of course with last year being the World War display then the big gun planes were missing too which was a nice sight last year. I don't think the weather helped much either. Never the less it was a good turn out and good show. Here's to the next one.
It was a fantastic feeling being able to take off over all the people in their cars in the (what looked like) endless queue waiting to depart the airfield!!
When we (WhirlyGirl and myself) spoke to the ATC just prior to departing they said that we should just take off from where we were situated and go out straight to the west and then head north!! There was no way I was doing a towering take off with that many people watching, a line of cars ahead of us, that being if I had have gotten over the Blackhawk first anyway!!
Definitely thought it was more sensible to go out to the grass alongside the runway and have a nice run up at it. Didn't want to scare anyone in their cars as they leave or they might never come back for the next one!!
See you all at Weston for the Dodgems!!!
