Just a quick update re the fly in at Halfpenny Green. I know its not a helicopter, but for those who like pleasure flying in older types we now have the Rapide, Prentice, Dove and Twin pioneer confirmed for pleasure flying on that day. Oh and the 40's style band has now confirmed, but they are not flying.. Wink

I really did think about doing this one and also, because our current 269 is Belgian registered I could have landed for free!! BUT they are flying it back to Belgium on 21st as it is time-out on the mill and it's to be rebuilt over there. Our intrepid explorer is going over to Germany after OO-DLM is taken back to fetch another 300C from Germany but this will be re-registered on a G prefix when it comes here. Sad

So I don't think there will be rotors to get there - but who knows...

Being as we live so close to Wolverhampton and would have to drive one hour south to hire a heli to fly back up, I think we will be driving over this time. Probably won't be able to get there until about lunch time though - I work on Saturday mornings.

Folks,

Sorry I have been quiet about this for a time and generally quiet on the forum, have been trying to keep the business going and have been busy learning the hard way about trying to help organise an event.

Anyway an udate -

We currently have around 125 fixed wing aircraft booked in for the fly in on the 24th June. On the ground we have vintage fire vehicles, a hunter cockpit, a display from a current Staffordshire Fire vehicle, an amateur radio group, an aviation artist, plastic model display, bouncy castle and face painting for the kids. The cafe will be open all day with a licenced bar and BBQ ruuning alongside the tower. Air Atlantique will also be carrying out pleasure flights in a Rapide, Devon and Percival Prentice over Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley.

In terms of rotary attractions we have had a few cancellations and a few items unavailable due to operational commitments but 60 Squadron are kindly sending over a Griffin for static display until about 3.30pm, the Police Ec135 will be on display along with the County Air Ambulance Ec135. The latter will not be here all day but will be operating from the airport at some points during the day.

If any of you do manage to come along, you will be pleased to know that a good percentage of any landing fee will be going to the Air Ambulance along with the majority of car parking monies.

If any of you do decide to pop along by air, ppr is preferred but not essential and for informatiopn there is a new e mail address for the tower - atc@wolverhamptonairport.co.uk

Cheers
Paul

pps There are a few pics of the Police Ec135 in the back of the current Todays Pilot Wink
