Can we have a Helitorque Avatar which then sits in front of the address and the link in bookmarks?
Do you know what I mean?

It would look very nice.

Regards

Toby

I think you're referring to a "Shortcut Icon". Wink

Maybe it's still caching the old one... I had this problem with firefox yesterday, but I emptied the cache, restarted and it showed up. I've tried it in several browsers and I can see it just fine. Haven't tested it on a PC however. If I can find one I'll have a look at it.

Somone with a similar problem wrote:
"Favicon and IE are a poor match. Hopefully, this will be addressed in the next release of IE. Sometimes you can coax IE into displaying the favicon by gently tugging at the default icon in the address bar using a drag and drop motion. Even once you get IE to display the favicon, it is likely to stop doing so at any time without notice."

I've added an extra line of code which is meant to help IE - see if it makes any difference now...

Still no good, I'm afraid.

IE7 is a lot better at it than IE5 and 6 ever were. Many of the sites I have bookmarked now have their icons showing, whereas before, it was hit and miss!

Hmm.

James,

I've set up a simple html test page as I want to rule out the possibility that it's just not finding it when embedded in the portal:

http://www.helitorque.com/test1.html

Can you see it on this page?

http://www.helitorque.com/test2.html

Or on this page?

Can you even see the favicon in the broswer here?

Thanks,

WhrilyGirl Cool

Don't know if this helps at all but just tried it on my MacBook Pro with the Parallels virtual system for PC running and at first it wouldn't show up. I picked up the favicon in the address bar and jiggled it around a bit as though I was going to throw it somewhere and then let go. It updated to the new favicon immediately.

James - maybe a little more jiggling is required. Sorry I know that's not very technical and all but I'm down with Follicular Tonsillitis at the moment so my head isn't exactly thinking straight at the moment!! Very Happy Feels like I have an over-blown balloon stuck in my throat!! Very Happy

The HT site was down last night and also when I logged on after lunch today - it 'went' as I was reading stuff yesterday. Now it's back, the nice rotating coloured envelopes have gone for the Private Messages listing on the LH side... Sad

FF,

We had some issue with the database for a couple of periods lasting around 15 minutes, but all being well these issue have since been resolved.

As for the envelopes, sorry about that, but we're now using a set of uniform icons across the site and they didn't quite "fit" with the design. But don't worry Foxy, we've added some new envelopes next to the "members online" list, so that you can quickly and easily pm a user who is online. Hope this makes up for the loss of your spinning ones. Wink

WhirlyGirl> No, No and Yes. (I'd already established that I could actually download the .ico file! I have it sitting on my C drive... Wink )

WhirlyGuy> I've jiggled more than I really want to! Have to say, that's not a very scientific piece of advice - there will be a reason for it.

Well if it works for you folks, and not me, then it's a problem here. I'll try at work tomorrow, and if that's no good, will try to investigate why. I'd be interested to know if any other XP Pro + IE7 user sees the same thing.

Works fine for me folks, in both IE7 and Firefox, both on XP.
