Just wanted to say hello after having my head in the books for 3 days... the reason I haven't been posting much is that I've been doing type rating training for my first turbine. I passed my Bell 206 test yesterday. Smile

The course was intense, exciting and I enjoyed every minute including the test!! So I guess I'm in the JetRanger club now - pitty I can't afford one. Laughing

That list of types is getting longer, your future holidays are going to be based around staying current! Razz

Seriously though, well done, I'm not jealous, I'm very jealous! Very Happy

As Dr Who said, "Never say never!", and when you get the moolah, you might want something else, then that's another rating! Razz

Respect Bravo!

I think I'll leave it at 4 for the moment!! I only have 40 hours to go before I can start the CPL training, so I want to do as many different types of flying sorties as I can, preferably in a slightly more affordable helicopter (limited sfh budget and all that!!).

Congrats Whirly! I am sure you enjoyed it. How is the turbine flying compared to pistons? Was the transition dificult? Petr

Hi Petr,

Thanks for your congratulations. I found there was a lot more work involved in the transition; for a start there was all the engine stuff to learn about, the flight manual seemed significantly larger and there were quite a few numbers to remember. As far as the flying was concerned, the biggest difference seemed to be anticipating power changes and getting used to maneuvers with the massive inertia in the blades compared to the pistons I've flown.

Now I guess it's just practice that's required to get to know the machine inside out.

Cheers mate! Your turn will come, along with the massive hole in your wallet! That is the only part of flying I DON'T like, but c'est la vie!

Thanks blme!

And of course I owe a massive thank you to John, Elaine, Andy, Steve and everyone else at TAMS for an awesome couple of weeks of learning and flying. Smile
