Hi.

I am currently in Australia working on my CPL-H. Will get back too Europe in April/May for convertion of my license, and ATPL theory.

Anyone knows some groundschools in Europe where I can do this? Have found Luftfartsskolen in Norway.

Tnx.

Stian

Hi Helistian!

Welcome to helitorque! Do you have a particular country in mind, or are you looking for anywhere in Europe to do the exams? I've never really thought about it but presumably if you do the groundschool in Norway, the course and exam papers will be in Norwegian? I presume that's where you are from looking at your country flag?

So are you specifically looking for somewhere in Norway, or would you consider doing it in another JAA state? Here in the UK, I've heard good things about Bristol Groundschool for ATPL, but I think it's a correspondence course rather than a full-time one. Oxford Aviation also seem to offer a full-time ATPL(H) course.

The other option, if you're not bothered about the IR would be to sit the CPL(H), which I did at Atlantic Flight Training.

Hope this helps - sorry I can't really comment for the rest of Europe as my experience is limited to the UK. Maybe someone else here can point you in the right direction with Scandinavian and European Ground School options.

Best wishes,

WhirlyGirl Cool

A quick google search brought up this link to a Norwegian School...

Not sure if this is helpful but they seem to offer an ATPL(H) course.

There are several dotted around JAR-land of course.

Avia in Norge as noted. Olaf is very helpful and it is a family run business (the whole family work there).

There is one in Brussels (forget the name). Most countries offer the course - the issue will be the language you want to be training in and take the exam in.

The advantage outside of the UK is NO VAT on professional training.

NB GTS at Bournmouth also offer a ATPL and CPL (H) course. Scandanavians have been sighted here ..

Tnx for the warm welcome too this forum. Real good site I must say. Doing a fine job WG Very Happy

This was real helpful guys. I'm not looking for a partiqulary country. Am already half way around the world Wink, so a couple of more miles wouldn't hurt.

Have talked too the schools in Norway, all off theory there are on english. So why not goo to a english-speaking country. See whats happening as I get closer.

But thanks guys.

Good luck to you other guys that are studing as well.

There is now an approved modular distance learning course for the JAA ATPL(H), with CPL(H) shortly. Also available is first multi-engine pre-entry.
