You could give me the longest barge pole in the world and I still wouldn't touch that thing! _________________ ATPL(H) IR(H): SK92, AS355, EC120, R22/44

I may be completely off my trolley, but I still would not actually think of buying it if I had the sort of money he is asking I would be booking 10 hours of lessons _________________ R22 2.6 h/r wanting more, a hell of a lot more |

Can't be all bad.....it uses a BMW engine.
I see only a gauge for "up and down". It's the "down" part that bothers me.
Would make a nice planter for the yard , or a private place to read the news paper.
He gets an "A" for effort in the build. _________________ "A Copter Pilot's Life has it's... ups and downs"

It just looks stupid and not very crashworthy. I reckon someone farting 10 miles away would get the blades to hit the tail. I thought things couldn't get any worse then the Mini 500, it's appears it just has... _________________ ATPL(H) IR(H): SK92, AS355, EC120, R22/44

I like the description though :

Well if they're not aviation experts then what are they doing with it in the first place, no wonder the rotor got damaged!
If you go and see it do you think they would fly it to show how well it works? Probably not if they aren't experts

I wonder if the rotor damage is the apparent kink in the forward pointing blade in the pix?
Would you trust a water-cooled engine? I don't think any other heli has a water-cooled power plant in it - something extra to fail - and has it had mags put in instead of the usual ignition system?
It does look a bit Meccano really...is that vertical wooden looking stick the collective? Not to be trusted - being sold by a s/h car dealer too!
Dodgy C of A anyone?

Does it even have a C of A?
Yep the cyclic looks a little iffy doesn't it!
Doesn't look like it would give enough range for control to me. A bit like sticking a 1" steering wheel on an 18 wheeler!!

He doesn't know if it has a permit to fly/C of A as he is still waiting for the paperwork.
Yes, I did ask him!

I like your youtube clip of the small turbine helicopter WhirlyGuy. A perfectly good little aircraft. How many of these small helicopters are out there? I prefer the turbine power-plant to the BMW engine in the 1st posting. |

Sorry hendrik but I don't know the answer to that one but what I'm wondering is how could anyone ever get a license for one of those. There's no way for training to take place and how could you ever do a check-ride?

Agree about the training WG but (eg) an FAA licence covers any single engine helicopter rather than specific types.
