I have a question about russian helicopters
is it the big mil 26 that has a large crew requirement - what are their roles? can the big beast be flown by just one pilot? if not why not???

Ok no problem I'll answer. Crew consists of captain and copilot as on a common helis and also navigator and a flight-engineer. And their roles are navigator - to navigate and flight-engineer to manage all systems. The large crew is cuz of a very old and difficult in operating equipment. For most missions crew also consists of master-cargo and other aditional crew members.

and you'll understand how difficult mi-26 is.

Mi 26 crew can be up to 7 people,
especially on sling operations.
I was honored to meet first test pilot on that beauty or the beast  |
