As we all seem to acquire (flying) things we no longer need or want but don't want to throw away how about a section where we could advertise them to other members?

Nice idea actually. I've got some PPL stuff I no longer need.

The WG's seem quiet on the idea unfortunately...

I would however suggest that you hang on to your books as reference. I have recently discovered that I have been referring back to them to refresh my memory Smile

Hi Wolfie,

Sorry for the quietness Sad

We do think it's a good idea but with the daylight increasing I have been flying all the time!

What if I create a forum for buying and selling of aviation related stuff? It won't be anything clever like eBay, just a forum so you'll have to arrange trading, swapping or purchase of items via pm I guess.

Good idea though - I have probably got a few things I could put on there myself, although I tend to give away most of my "no longer needed" items to my students.

Will try to get onto this tonight if I get a chance.

Cheers,

Sarah

WhirlyGirl, do you mean a whole new forum or just another section on helitorque? Either way sounds like a good plan!

Sorry Sarah - we can't all be busy flying around in helicopters like you Wink

Another forum catagory was my thought rather than an Ebay style auction.

A few thoughts/ideas though...

- All offers etc. should be in open forum to avoid disputes.
- Maybe a minimum number of posts by members prior to be eligible to sell.
- Bids and offer post only to avoid comments about usefulness/value for money/"They're crap".
- Upper limit to value of items.

Hi Wolfie,

Consider it created. I've also done a bit of "trimming" to the list of forums since some of them were hardly being used. It might speed up the load time of the main forum page with less on it!!

I've called it "The Marketplace" and it's under general forums. If you can think of a better name let me know, just thought I'd get it up and running so you can start doing whatever you want with it!

Excellent thanks Sarah! Now who's going to be the first to advertise something...?

Thanks Sarah.

Will have to have a rake through and see what I can advertise!

Just to pitch in on this and to say sorry for not replying sooner but when we finally get the site moved across to the new software then you can probably expect a LOT of features like that except they won't be forum based I will probably roll out complete functionality for a sales based area on the site with all kinds of coolness!! Smile

Just have to get around to getting everything from this forum across to the new software first Sad

We'll get there though I promise.

Well, you've been running a fine site with the current software, just saying...

I'm new to the forum so if any of this has been discussed and thrown out just ignore the idea.

I think a section with a for sale/parts needed area would be a good idea. I know we've got some stuff here that we could let go of without throwing it away. Also as a regular maintenance facility we're always looking for parts and components that are slightly used so that we don't have to buy at Bell's high prices.

Also the "torque talk" section could use a maintenance aspect. I'm not sure how many on the forum are wrenches but it could help to have a "secret trick" area and an "I need help on..." area might not be a bad idea.
