It seems to take off very left skid low....

Watch this Video in a New Window

check out the takeoff at 52 seconds.

I wonder what it is like inside at that angle!

Now now, we all have lifts that we are glad are not on film. It's hard when you know there are a lot of cameras pointed at you. He's in an aircraft that he would not have many hours on either....

I had to film a scene for a video where my lift was bad enough that I landed and told the camera man I wanted to do it again as I didn't want that nasty piece of flying on the film.

I'm sure there are others with similiar stories.......

Typical, you get through to around 4:30 and the engineers have popped the engine out, you can't leave them alone with anything these days... Wink

WOW, sounds good.

Bit of a wonky take off but who out of all the pilots out there can say that they have NEVER had a bad lift.

My only thought watching it was safety (being a marshaller), IF something had gone wrong then there was nowhere to go....

Thaaaaaaaa. Everything was completely under control.

To all who have negative thoughts, and doubts, about the R66, will have to come along and see (or maybe lucky enough to fly) in this beautiful machine to appreciate how safe, and capable it is!

Even though it is a turbine, it is surprisingly quiet on start up, and extremely light to push out of, and back into the hangar.

Overall, the R66 is fantastic. You have to see it to believe it.

I feel privileged to be involved in the wonderful R66!!

Stuff the negative doo dah warriors!!!!

And before anyone goes on about the battery start on the R66 - it is fairly normal for the first turbine start-up of the day to be an external battery start up!

Logged my first 1.4 in the R66 this morning. Very simple to operate, it seemed to like 72% torque for 115KIAS. The only surprise was how fast rotor RPM comes up in a 180 auto - much quicker than the R44. It's warm here - a start cart was not necessary.

Catwoman.
What an earth are you talking about turbine and skids, think you have lost the plot somewhat. As for the take off at the demo what an idiot, doesnt deserve a licence, let alone a professional one. if one of my PPl's did that he wouldnt be flying one of my machines. But then again you said the R66 was fantastic, obviously can never suffer from engine failure, tail rotor failure. LTE LTA or any other failure. just imagine what would have happened if it had, quite a few people would have suffered.

I thought the same but didn't like to cast aspersions on a lady! Especially as the rum is far more enjoyable in my stomach than in the bottle...
