|
|
Hello all..
I'm wondering if there are any schools with Enstrom's anywhere? Or anyone who knows an Enstrom for SFH flying? (ideally with safety pilot)
All my hours, barring 0.5, have been on S300s in the US and I'm now living in the UK. I'm reluctant to turn to any of Mr Robinsons products, except perhaps the 44; but realy fancied flying an Enstrom instead.
Any idea's welcome..
Thanks all..
Mungs. |

I know of an Enstrom at Barton City Airport in Manchester.
What is wrong with the Robbie? |

No, just don't fancy flying an R22. 0.5 was enough time on that type for me, just too small. |

With over 14,000 hours on many types, I can honestly say that the 10.7 hours I have on the Enstrom were the worst time I have ever had. Hated that machine, it needed the turbocharger to be working just to stay in the cruise - with normal aspiration it couldn't even maintain height. Mongrel to re-start after a short shut-down when hot, mongrel clutch system. Shook and rattled, the dashboard was cheaper than a late-60s Hillman Hunter.
Give me an R22 any day over that piece of rubbish.
However, comma, there are plenty of people who will swear by the Enstrom. I am one of the people who swear AT the Enstrom. |

I've never flown an Enstrom but have to admit to finding the Schweizer 300 infinately easier to handle than the R22, only problem is that my nearest one is 200 miles away.................it's a long way to drive just for a lesson. |

I find the EC120 nice and easy to fly but...
Adapt to what is available and make yourself a more versatile pilot. I mean you wouldn't drive the same model of car all your life would you?

mungo5 - are you hour building towards a commercial licence, or just flying for fun? If the former, I would suggest flying whatever type will put you in the best position for your first job. |
