Greetings from Norway folks,
Just wondering how the weather is looking back home for the end of the week.
We have a storm forecast to hit the Ekofisk field starting this evening. Today winds are picking up to 55kts, tomorrow is forecast 77G100. This reason for 100, simply the METAR and TAF reporting system is limited to 100kts, so potentially more.
Since Monday evening we have been flying socks off and evacuating/demanning platforms in the field. A couple of years ago the Valhall platform was hit by high waves during a storm and several lifeboats were washed away, emergency demanning took place at 0300hrs in winds of 70kts, glad they are planning ahead this time
Heard Aberdeen is due a big dump of weather, is this having an effect on anyones operations?
Am flying this afternoon/evening so will try and post any interesting pictures I can get.
As you may have seen on the news the east coast got hit hard and the whole country has seen high winds wednesday into thursday - died off in the midlands thursday afternoon
here's an interesting approach into Birmingham EGBB
fair play for trying
We went flying on Thu afternoon and had the obligatory audience for take off and landing, as always seems to happen when the wind goes above 35kts in the UK,
