Guys & Girls...
The World Helicopter Championships are being held in Rouen, France - August 2005.
I'm sure that some of you would like to be involved in assisting the team in both the lead up practice sessions (groundwork, admin and the like) and the forthcoming Brits?
We are always in need of people who appreciate, respect and understand the dangers of working with and around helicopters (It gives the competing pilots less to think about!).
What do you think? _________________ TC - Pilot to the Stars.
I'm a member of the Helicopter Club of Great Britain, who are organising the UK tem for this year.
Their practices are at Netheravon, near Oxford, and the practice dates are:
8th May in Salisbury, which is a fly-in and practice day.
15th May, Netheravon, practice day
And the UK championships, to decide who will represent the UK in France will be held on:
10th - 12th June at Heythrop Park, with the main days being Sat and Sunday. Friday is the arrival day.
I'm not sure whether any or all of these are limited to HCGB members or open to everyone, but I can find out.
The events include a Nav and some ground events such as slalom etc.
I've put myself down for most of these events, and intend to fly-in to the UK ones. I'll find out what I can about attendance limits.
I wasn't aware they were still looking for people to help. Do you know any more about this? _________________ Adam Bailey

We need all the people we can muster to assist the crews!
Here's an example; The Mil crews have a ground handler who makes sure that the machine is ready, that the start's are safe (close vicinity to other machines and people), that all the lockers are closed, no unusual smoke or noise, that the screens are clear, fuel, doors off/on requirement, clear to lift, tea, coffee (only joking on those aspects ).
Certainly for the practice weekends - we need more people on the ground with helicopter awareness during practice to advise on where the crew is going wrong, take video footage of each run, de-brief the crews in detail and to possibly assist with navigation by being out in the search box or MFO points!
It is August isn't it WG? - you know me....it may as well be 2007

Great!!
It's always nice to post-mortum the event afterwards...helps the crew to see where things went wrong! (Which they do on a regular basis at the moment ) _________________ TC - Pilot to the Stars.

If anyone is flying to the event in France, instead of going by commercial jet, and has a spare seat, PLEASE let me know, as I'd love to go.
James, as a professional cameraman with broadcast quality gear, and the tools to produce DVDs, I would very much be up for filming the whole event at Heythrop Park, or the practices.
Who do I need to speak to about this?

Hey Guys
Do you want to see the photos from this weekends Neatheravon event ? Weather was not so good but have some interesting photos. Not sure how too but will figure it out and post.
TC the final results will be heading your way in the next few days, I have just finished the gross error checks with some corrections and hence final ranking positions. Will also compile a CD of photos for you.
If anyone wants to join the British Team in France (August 16-21) as a supporter then you need to contact John Matchett the team manager who will coordinate the booking with the French organisers.

Alan - If you photos are hosted on the web already, you can link to them using the "img" button when you are posting. There is a link here with some detailed instructions, but PM me if you're not sure and I will talk you through it!
Adam - Thanks for posting the dates!! t's quite soon isn't it!
TC - I didn't realise before but I am actually going on holiday in May so I might not be able to make the practices after all, however I will probably get across to the main event in June. Do you stil want me and Catwoman to attend in cheerleader outfits?! lol!
Why don't we put the Worlds up on the events calendar...
WG - I put ALL the dates up for this yesterday, did you not get them? I noticed that you can't put in an event longer than 48 hours, unless you add an event for each day, which is a bit of a pain.

Adam, I got your dates for the practice on the 15th, and for the Festival Of Speed, The Blue Eagles, The 3 British Championship Dates but not for the Worlds in August.
I know it's a pain that you have to submit each date invidually but if you just submit the first one I can do the rest of them for you. Yet another thing on the list of things to fix!! I don't have enough hours in the day!!
One day I will find a way to stop time or invent an 8th day! lol!
