Hey everyone, have been lurking for a while, but need to ask a question.

Im currently doing training in Ireland for my PPl H, and I hope after I get it to go on for my CPLH.
I was discussing this with my instructor and about getting an instructor rating. He did his training in Ireland, but his instructors rating in the UK, as its only 250 hrs as opposed to 300hrs in Ireland.

So when I get to that stage Im thinking of doing the same. To save on money, I have an uncle who lives in Bristol and my brother lives in Colchester so I can stay with them while Im doing it.

Does anyone know any schools that give instructor ratings in those areas?

Thanks
Al

Great site BTW

Hi Al! Welcome to HeliTorque!! Very Happy

I am triaining at HeliAir, Wellesbourne. They run an instructor course there, but it's a couple of hours drive from Bristol. I don't know if there's a heli school at Bristol Airport, but I've noticed there are a lot of Irish pilots who come over to Wellesbourne to train.

I guess there might be some schools around colchester but whether they do the instructor course I don't know.

Al,
I'm in the same boat.
You might want to consider a bit more than where you can stay when you do you course. And some places can organise cheap accomodation. I understand Tiger have a caravan that can be used, their rates are quite good, and it's not a million miles from Bristol.
Personally I'm going with Heliair in Wycombe, but I got to know an instructor, went to visit them and was sold straight away. Probably better to get a shortlist and use several criteria to narrow it down.
By the way you can also do it in Newtownards, Northern Ireland.
I would say Ireland will probably follow the UK lead on hours, just a matter of when, but there is only one commercial training establishment in Ireland, so choice is limited there.

Thanks for the links everyone.

I might see where my instructor got his and see what he thinks of it.But will check out all those places listed.
Only reason I was looking for a place near where I could stay was mainly to save some ???????? Very Happy

Will definatley look more into though.

Have you done any trainng here raffski? Eirecopters maybe?

Thanks again everyone.
