I think that's an excellent idea - and more to the point, we need to find one which is is directly in line with the gate!! Last year we were pretty damn close to the sea front, but found out that we had to walk half a mile along the display to get in! Quite frustrating as our heli was parked quite close to our hotel and we couldn't get to it without doing a HUGE detour!!
So anyone got any inside info as to where the gate will be going?
As I said to TC at the weekend (always a pleasure bumping into you too, TC ), I don't mind doing the 'leg work' in finding a hotel, big enough to cope with "us lot" and, as you say WGirl, as close to the gate as poss!!!
When I find a suitable hotel, I will leave the negotiating up to WGirl, if that's okay. She is good at getting discounts on top of discounts!!!
The breakfast room on a Sunday morning, after our Helidays BBQ, the dodgems competition, Scally's Bar and lastly the Chinese restaurant, would be a sight not to be missed

Right, sorted! I have found a great hotel which is apparantly right opposite the entrance to the helicopters! It is called the Sunfold Hotel and there are all the deails on this website:
The lady I spoke to sounded lovely and she has told me there are 4 rooms available for those dates (in addition to the 2 I just booked). We are going to go for all three days this time. I advise booking asap becuase she told me the rooms are likely to sell out fast. What's more they have a bar!
If you can't get in there, then just a few doors away you have:
At least if we're all in this same general area we will:
a) Not have to walk 5 miles from/to the helicopter
b) Get to the famous BBQ within seconds of walking out of the door
c) Have a HeliTorque get-together in one of our hotel bars
d) Not get too wet when entering / leaving the display area if it rains (as it will inevitably will in WSM)
Perhaps you could all put a post up here when you've booked and we can start planning for an evening at Scally's (compulsary!) and a weekend of helicopter fun!
