Although I'm still waiting for confirmation of my (first) exam bookings with the maps and all that (they've taken me money quick enough though!) I am projecting ahead and any answers to all that stuff that goes through your head when you're not in the know would be greatly appreciated!

Which are the nearby hotels/B&Bs?
Can you park at the exam venue?
Anything else useful to know?
Etc.

Cheers.

Hi IB!

I should be doing the March exams too, however as I am on the CPL interim course and not the helicopter specific one, I think my exams are on the Monday and Tuesday, rather than Wednesday and Thursday (correct me if I am wrong about that!).

In November, we found an excellent deal on rooms at travelodge which is literally a couple of minutes away from Aviation house.

Caution, they have added a barrier stopping you getting through the main airport bit to the CAA building, so we decided to go down the night before, plan our route, so we were well prepared for the morning. Someone we met missed half their exam as they tried to get there first thing in the morning and couldn't get through to the airport. The CAA are not forgiving, they did not give an extension on time for being late! That must have been dreadful.

There is parking in the CAA car park but get there early, as it is often full up. Don't want to worry you as I am sure you're under enough stress with these exams as it is! Just allow plenty of time for everything, and you'll be fine! Smile

Cheers for those little bits of information!

Seems I've missed out on the cheap rooms at the Travelodge. There were some but not on the dates I need (is it some sort of Easyjet thing?)... I'll see what else is about - it is very close by though.

I feel for that guy - I'm definitely off down the night before...

Excuse my ignorance but what's the deal with the interim exams (they don't appear to be listed on the timetable) are they in with the ATPL stuff?

Ta.

It is basically the CPL(A) with the POF(H) attached.
