I know I have been a bit quiet on this topic lately Rolling Eyes But I have been doing my homework for the summer fly-in.

I have come across waht loks like a fabulous venue for the HeliTorque Summer Fly-In. I thought you all might like to check it out
Smile

It is a place called Raven Hall Country House Hotel, Ravenscar, Scarborough. Website is www.ravenhall.co.uk.

Also ther is www.barnham-broom.co.uk

www.blakeney-hotel.co.uk

www.dunsleyhall.com

Cave Castle Hotel & Country Club

The Cambridge Garden House Hotel

My favourites so far are:-

No. 1 Raven Hall
No. 2 Blakeney Hotel
No. 3 Cave Castle

Phew!!!! This is quite a difficult feat!!! Especially after last sumer's fantastic Summer Fly-in Shocked

But, I will leave it up to you lot to look at the hotels and see what you think Smile And post your views, etc

Have you confirmed with these hotels that:

1. They permit helicopters to land?
2. They don't charge outrageous landing fees of more than

That is exactly my job for tonight - checking these hotels out Cool

Initially, I wanted to mention these hotels for other members to view. One or two of the forum members may know that area and come up with any suggestions.

I didn't get a chance to e-mail or telephone last night these places - getting too late!!

Will report later on this evening.

I will also be checking out country hotels further south. Somewhere around the Norfolk area and southwards?

Barnham broom hotel outside of Norwich has a fairly small helipad at the back of the carpark. Unlikely you will get more than 2/3 helis in. Nice place though.

I didn't word that quite right!!! What I meant was that WW and Mrs WW can make that date, but obviously this is only provisional.

What other dates do other forum members recommend?

I will just wait to hear.

I was thinking a long weekend, yes, possibly even to the Monday, too.

Which would enable us to get a bit further away, if we wanted.

That was what Mrs WW suggested as well, but I think just the Fri and Sat initially.

Anyway, anyone's comments on dates and venues, and length of stay, would be very welcome.

I will keep researching.

A date has been suggested and I think perhaps we ought to go for it Smile

A few forum members would like to go for 2 nights, but the main HeliTorque get-together/dinner would be on the Saturday daytime/Saturday night/Sunday morning.

So, here is the suggested weekend:-

2 night break Fri 30 June/1 July or
2 night break Sat 1 July/Sun 2 July

I am trying to find a location that would be quite central for all forum members attending. I am looking in the Norfolk/Cambridge/Lincoln/Nottinghamshire/South Yorks areas.

Kenwick Park is out of the question, unfortunately. If we wanted to go there we would have to go through all the red tape with The Parish Council Shocked Enough said Rolling Eyes

Thoresby Hal Hotel and Spa, nr Ollerton in Nottinghamshire looks very nice. In fact reading the description it sounds great!!! I wil ring them and find out more info either later or tomorrow.

If anyone out there can recommend country hotels with leisure facilities, then please post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hope we get a good turnout, like we did last year.

Bye for now

Catwoman, Thoresby Hall Hotel is a Warners Holidays location.

If you want to see what its like go to http://www.warnerbreaks.co.uk/thoresby-hall/thoresby-hall.asp

Can say if there is room for helis as I am not going till September. Just had a quick look at the bookings section. There doesn't appear to be a 2 night break starting on the 30th June, only a three night break.
Prices are from

I have been tearing my hair out trying to find a suitable venue for our summer fly-in!!! The only one I have found so far is 'way too far away'!!!! Sounds okay for a future fly-in though Wink Just for a matter of interest it is called Boscundle Manor (www.boscundlemanor.co.uk) They accommodate helis. Well, to be more precise, the chappy that used to own the manor now lives in a house next door and his field is open to helis with, apparenly, some sort of landing fee Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes The hotel have offered a discount if this occurs!!!

I have now finished my din dins - so I will consult my map of England and try a few more hotels Smile Smile

What do you think of the Chester area????

Landing fee? Evil or Very Mad

How do these people justify charging helicopters when they don't issue parking charges to the cars in their car parks? The combined cost of all our hotel rooms, dinner, and drinks will make them a fortune and they want to charge us a landing fee? Head Banging Head Banging Head Banging
