I have been asked to update on somewhat a regular basis on how I am doing/ what U.S. Army rotary wing flight training is like so here is where I am currently at now.

Tomorrow I take my Primary VFR Checkride:

.5 hours oral examination
-Emergency procedures
-limitations
-aerodynamics
-airspace/sectional
-aeromedicine
-Performance planning
-pre-flight/post flight

1 hour flying exam

-traffic pattern
-entry to traffic pattern
-steep approach to the ground
-max performance takeoff
-standard autorotation
-normal takeoff from the ground
-shallow approach run on landing
-slope landings
-sef at alt/ power recovery
-sef at hover alt.
-hovering autorotation

-.5 debrief

so hopefully all goes well tomorrow and then i go to instruments

180 autos are gone and have been for sometime i believe

a on the oral
busted the SEF at hover alt
had to do the standard auto twice cause i was short on the first one but i terminated with power on my own accord so i got full credit on it.

Rock on!

We still do 180s at Whiting; we can bring the TH-57B all the way to the deck. (The TH-57C is power-recovery only.)

Have fun in instruments. I'm knee-deep in our instrument syllabus right now. We often do "out-and-in" training to Florala - we usually see you Rucker-types refueling there. If you ever get out there, make sure you grab some chow. They've got a pretty good spread (if you like burritos).

Congrats!

Have a beer and get back to the books. The pace only picks up!

Thats crazy they cut out 180 autos. I'm glad they are all touchdown autos still though.

You'll have great time in instruments. I enjoyed myself. Once you figure it out, it's really easy from then on.

KBay, I saw a TH57 goofin around Dothan today. In fact I spent the day dodging TH-67 all over the place!
