I've been several times, it's well worth the effot, the cafe serves reasonable grub and there's more helicopters than you can poke a stick at....

How about a fly-in to he Helicopter Museum at Weston - 2005?

They love us going in as it boosts the attendance from Joe public. It's a truly great place to go if Heli's rock your boat Wink

What do you think? Very Happy

TC

I know why you want to go there TC - Scallys is down the road!!!! lol!

Actually it's a great idea. Last time I went there (sadly by car!) I had a chicken heli burger in the cafe! It was a nice day out. We'll have to bear it in mind for next year when the wx improves! Very Happy

Sounds good..

Went there a few years back, also visited the Fleet Air Arm museum in the same trip, by road.

Lots of lovely 'relics' and tons of info supported by what was clearly huge enthusiasum from the volunteers at Weston, lots of nice displays at the FAA but more of a business than a work of love.

Thought that it would benefit form some of the funding available at Yeovilton though...

OK!!! Count us in!!! Wherever anyone decides where it should be a good idea to go, we will go along with the PLAN!!

We will be flying in I expect - weather permitting!!! Don't want to sit in a boring car in boring traffic more than we have to!!

Hi TC! How's your Christmas preparations going? Smile Looking forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Yeovil or Yeovilton?

I was at college in Yeovil, and as part of some course or other, had a wander around part of Westlands; all very interesting. But now I can fly 'em, it would probably make more sense!

Why not make it a weekend flyin you all know how good the night life is in Weston from the Helidays event. Free landing fees and secure location. taxis can be arranged and cheap accommodation.

If anyone is passing Kemble and is willing to pick me up I will be happy to give you a guided tour of the museum as one of the founders of the museum and having recovered and restored many of the exhibits.

Regards

Alan

Hi ther Alan,

Long time, no hear!!!!!!

How are you??

Yes, if we have a spare seat and on our way down to the Museum, we would love to pick you up.

But, we will probably come down to the Museum anyway, so we will let you know when we get there and arrange to meet you. Not until the spring though............. Smile Smile

Hope you had a good Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you......

Welcome to the forum Alan!

Yes, we know how much fun the HeliDays are and would like to have a repeat visit sometime this year. If we're passing we'll certainly let you know!

See you soon,
