Google now do (might have been doing it for ages for all I know!) online word processing and, more to the point, spreadsheets.

Google Docs

It got me thinking; if, like me, you don't have a lap top or PDA but would still like to be able to use a spread-sheet to help with W&B (or as a logbook) could you use this service in conjunction with a 3G phone?

Unfortunately I do not - as of yet - have a 3G phone and am not that conversant with Excel so cannot really test my theory. I have however successfully uploaded someone else's W&B spreadsheet (not for the machine I fly) into Google Docs and it seems that if browsing the net on a 3G phone is the same as sitting at my computer it could be a goer!

Any one got experience of browsing the net on 3G phones or anything else to say about the above, I'd be interested to hear it...

Cheers.

Or perhaps usefully when away from "base", my Flight Plan/Log spreadsheet, which if you've not seen it, is an electronic version of the (Transair) Flight Plan, which does all of your wind calculations for you!

It is available in the Helitorque Downloads section, here

Yeah that was another useful aspect to the whole thing too. Good flight plan/log, by the way. I've filed it away for when I get a 3G phone/PDA/MacBook!
