Anybody up for the HeliDays this year? I know it's a bit early but I'd like to do it again this year! Wink

Flying into last year's event!

We'll probably go down in an R44 again, stay overnight and come back the next day - not sure which days yet, but probably the Saturday-Sunday. It's on the 29th, 30th, 31st July 2005, full details are on the calendar.

We had such a good time last year and we met some great people. If you have never gone it's a must! You can read about our last visit here! Can't remember where we stayed (bit hazy after the night out!) but it was a little B&B on the sea front - there are lots of them about, so try and pick one close to the grass area on the sea front, otherwise you'll be walking a long way like some poor devils last year (yes you know who you are!).

As soon as I find out a link to the pilot's information I post it up, but so far all I can find are references to last year's event. Perhaps if there are some HeliTorque members from the Helicopter museum you can keep us posted with the official info?

Hope to see lots of you there! Smile

No official link to pilots information but this will take you to the Helicopter Museum website: http://www.helicoptermuseum.co.uk/helidays.htm

Contact Claire via the following contact info and book your arrival slot as early as possible, they will also send you joining instructions:Tel: +44 (0)1934 822524 Fax: +44 (0)1934 822400 email: westonsuper@helidays.freeserve.co.uk

Sadly this will be the first Helidays I will have missed since we came up with the idea in 1990 (off to Australia for 6 weeks to visit family).

Accommodation can be found at : http://www.somersetcoast.com/acc/

Thanks for the links Alan! Shame you won't be there, it would have been nice to meet you. Perhaps some other time we'll pop over to the helicopter museum though. Very Happy

Orange Arm Waver, we'll see you at the BBQ (if there is a BBQ again this year - last year was very multicultural!!)!

Hi Whirlygirl - You should have been at the one the year before... Now THAT was some do... Probably due the fact it had rained so much and people just made the best of it.
I have copies of pictures but for the sake of people's health and well being (plus I've no way of posting them from here) I'll keep them out of the public domain...

Phew!

Thank goodness for that Confused

It was a good do it has to be said.

We'll be, as ever present - with a B&B closer this year.

Advice to anyone wanting to go....

Book a hotel EARLY. They become sparse that time of the year.

I was starting to look at the B&B's in Weston super Mare for the HeliDays weekend just before we went on holiday.

Thanks for the reminder to carry on searching for accommodation.

Phoned over 50 B&Bs today - all I got was "Ahh, that's the heliday's weekend, we're all full up!" or "We don't take one night bookings!" I guess that's becuase the ones we were trying were all near the sea front and the grass lawns where the heli's land. I don't feel up to walking for miles this year!! Wink

Anyway, I think I have found one, but if you are planning to go book your hotel a.s.a.p!! or you will end up walking half way to Bristol!!

I am really looking forward to it. Very Happy

W-S-M heli days, just spotted this thread. If anyone is struggling for a b&b for that w/e we live 10 miles away in Winscombe, and our 3 bed detached house has at least one spare dbl room going for that w/e!

Seems crazy not to offer it foc to a fellow heli person / couple. If anyone needs somewhere, just shout.

We will be going to at least one of the days, will be flying in from Bristol in a 22, seems mad driving up to the airport to fly back down again but i need the hrs and any excuse to land somewhere different.

Well if the weather stays the way it has been the last few days then the weston weekend will be great.

I will be there as usual again this year flogging some aircraft or another around the sky for the enjoyment of those aboard and so hope to get to meet some of you and put faces to the names.

Have to work out a way of spotting everyone amongst the crowd.
