Is anyone visiting The London Air Show between 8th and 10th April?

website: http://www.londonairshow.co.uk/

I'm considering it, but haven't really decided on a day - it'll be the Saturday or Sunday.

I have never been to the London Airshow before. Is there much in the way of helicopter activity? I am free on the Sunday but not sure if I am going yet, although I might just go along if you are all going to be there!

Not much in the way of "activity", it's a static show at Earls Court with various fixed wing and rotary on display, trade stands, lectures etc.

Other than a chance to get a close look at some expensive toys, the best bits last year were the "dunk tank" demonstrations and the lectures.

Wasn't an "exciting" show last year, but managed to get hold of some tickets and it's a good excuse for a day out in London!

May be nice to go just as a day out as RC mentioned.

Will see what WhirlyGirl says about it and then maybe if enough of us like the idea we could all meet up somewhere and either go down together or meet up in London somewhere.

Sounds like a plan WhirlyGuy! I'll put it in my diary - Sunday would be better for me as I am working on the Saturday...

Anybody else up for it?

What is the "dunk tank" rotor craig? Sounds like those things you used to see on TV where someone sat inside and got covered in buckets of slime!! lol!

Yes, I think it's actually called a "ditching tank".

Used to train emergency evacuation procedures by harnessing "volunteers" into a mock aircaft cabin, which is then lowered underwater and turned upside down.

No, I wasn't a volunteer Smile

Hello folks,

Just to let you know that sadly WhirlyGuy and myself will be unable to make it to the show this weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to go along next year though - have a good time if you're going, and if you have time perhaps you could let us know how it went!! Smile

Well, for my two pence worth.....what a load of crap the show was this year.

Less to do, less to look at, nothing really interesting at all, everything fully booked when you got there......rubbish!

I get to sit in more helicopters at the schools, than they allowed at this show. Even Fast Helicopters, who I fly with occasionally, wouldn't let anyone near the machines!

I certainly won't be going next year. Was there for an hour, and did the lot!

What did you all think?

Adam.
