Did you go to this event? What a shambles! I was stuck in traffic for 6 hours, only to give up and go home!

blme should have flown into Longleat yesterday to pick 2 passengers up and take them back to Goodwood.

HE DIDN'T GO!!! Weather severely "c***"!!!!

Weather first thing this morning wasn't helo friendly either!!! A commercial pilot friend of ours had to "sit in a field" for 1 1/2 hours!!!!

blme managed to get to Goodwood and back today but the wind had abated slightly by 4.00pm!!!

PS: Better to have a "live pilot" than a "dead 'un"!!!!! So the moral of the story is:- "Don't try and 'outdo' Mother Nature!!!!"

Friend of mine drove from Wolverhampton, queued for an age and finally got there after 7 hours in the car.

On arrival was told at 2pm that it was definitely going to start, but was delayed ... and the same at 3pm ... but at 4pm they admitted that it was cancelled bad wx.

They then spent 5 hours queueing to get out of the site and driving back to Wolverhampton.

What a nightmare!!!

Felt marginally guilty as I was supposed to be joining him there, but cancelled a couple of weeks ago in favour of a long weekend in Devon with the family. But we had an excellent time and definitely made the right choice in retrospect!!!

The Wx kindly gave me a slot on Saturday morning - just sufficient to get to Bishopstowe Hotel, 5k from Longleat. As it turned out, the Red Bull pilots were also staying there along with R.B officials. They were kind enough to provide a lift to the venue, together with "access all area" tickets Shocked (Thank you) and all the trimmings of corporate hospitality Very Happy

It was a sad day indeed - people stuck in traffic for hours on end, only to find that the flying didn't go ahead. It was pretty obvious by 14:00 though - a quick check of Yeovilton Wx made our minds up to high-tail it back to the hotel before the rush.

A crying shame Sad

Thanks to Blme Wink We obtained permission to fly in to the event.
