May I be the first to express my thanks to WhirlyGirl for once again organising this year's Christmas Party. MrsJTL2B and I had a fabulous time - great food and great company. Good to see everyone again.

The weekend though, is tinged with sadness, as I think this is what you heard Whirlygirl, on your R44 Sortie.

Quote:
Two aircraft collide in mid-air

Two light aircraft have been involved in a fatal mid-air collision, Leicestershire Police have confirmed.
All incoming flights are being diverted from East Midlands airport in Leicestershire after the incident which happened just after midday.

One of the two planes landed safely at East Midlands Airport and all three people on board were uninjured.

The other plane landed near Blithfield Reservoir in Staffordshire and there are believed to be fatalities.

Yes, we have the voice in our heads at the moment. Very sad news. Not sure if the one we heard talking was the aircraft that went down or not.

Very very sad news and our thoughts go to the families.

Very nice to see everyone again this year. Another great do and fab to catch up with everyone again.

A very sad moment - I feel so sorry for the families.
Crying or Very sad

On a happier note though, our get-together was, as usual, fantastic. It was great to meet up with our wonderful friends again.

Looking forward to seeing some of the photographs that were taken.

Hi folks,

Lovely to see you all - as usual it came and went in a flash, but it was an excellent do! Got 10 miles down the road and realised I'd left my hat and scarf by the log fire! Embarassed

Luckily they put it aside and we went back to collect it!

Bit of a nasty surprise hearing the mayday from the midair, especially at this time of year. Makes you wonder how this can happen with so much sky out there. Crying or Very sad Anyway, prayers to the families of those feared lost.

Sarah

Sadly it doesn't appear to be good news:

Two killed in aircraft collision

Pilotwolf, we haven't dared look at the pictures yet! Probably post some tomorrow once they have been appropriately censored!

Nice to see you both again.

Hi All

It was good to see everyone again, and to meet some new faces. Mrs Oi_Martin and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, the hotel and food were great and of course the company.

I heard the tail end of the news report about an emergency landing at East Mids. Craig wondered why all the big jets were being diverted to BHX.

Once Xmas is over best start thinking about 2008 get togethers.

Will look forward to the piccys when they are posted.

Martin and Mrs Oi_Martin

Sorry Pilotwolf, I haven't had time to go through them and upload them yet, however I have created the Christmas Bash album in the gallery if anyone else would like to start uploading some of their pics!

Will try and get around to it before Christmas, in between wrapping up presents and doing my accounts. *yawn*

Know the feeling WG - I am trying to get mine up to date as well.

Did just try and upload some files, using the Applet tab and it moans along the lines of "Gallery Not Found at ..."; this is using Firefox on Mac OSX. I'd use the form approach but I want to upload about ten photo's and they need resizing a bit.

Any ideas / instructions?

I know, I think there is something wrong with the applet bit, sorry! Haven't had time to look into what's wrong with it, but pretty sure that if you click on "form" in the add photos popup then it should allow you to upload them.

Look forward to seeing them!
