So, anyone else fancy spending a weekend in a peaceful, secluded part of Shropshire, surrounded by helicopters, helicopter pilots and lots of food and festive cheer?

4 rooms remaining... going once, going twice....

As James said, flying in is definitely not mandatory! Be nice to have some newbies joining us this time... Smile

Smile

I don't think they were ever reducing the prices Goughy, the prices listed on the first page of this thread are what the hotel is charging.

According to the hotel, a gaggle of Helitorquers have booked 10 rooms already. I would love to know who these folks are - are you going to turn up and surprise us or are you going to post on the thread to let us know you're coming along? It would be good to have an idea of who's going and who intends to fly / drive / ride / arrive on horseback...

If you've booked with the hotel, drop me a PM or post on this thread so I can do a quick head count.

I was told this afternoon that there is one room left... up for grabs on a first come first served basis. Contact the hotel to let them ask if they still have it. It would be nice to have the whole place exclusively for us.

I'm considering flying (it's quite a trek by road), will make a final decision nearer the time.

Just remember anyone who is driving that if you use a GPS you may find that it runs out around a mile before the hotel. The roads just don't exist on a lot of the GPS maps!!

Waaaaaayyy out in the sticks!! Wink

Oh yes, the orange gloves will be there.

I've just been given a wind speed thingy to give a rough idea.

Its about 120 miles for me from Oxfordshire, must be about the same from Nottingham James, do sat navs take you to the hotel if using the post code.

The Whirlies have been there before so would be in a best position to advise on approaches and parking, I think it has been covered earlier in the thread.
I will of course be up there by lunchtime to give an idea on the weather conditions in the area.

I might show my face depending on weather/funds...

How does landing/parking work at events like this? I can imagine it being a bit of a free-for-all with everyone arriving at the same time?....

Only ever really had 3 or 4 helis at the Christmas events, and it didn't present a problem. ISTR 6 or 7 made it to the summer event at Barnsdale a few years back - again, the arrivals were sufficiently staggered to not be an issue at all.

However, if there's a show of hands as to how many are arriving by heli, then we could perhaps coordinate a little before the event - and if required, I should think SAFETYCOM wouldn't be a bad idea on the day. Cool

I will be there by lunchtime ish and will know what the weather is like and the condition of the ground in the landing area. I would be happy to give pilots a call to give an idea of the Wx at the hotel.

One suggestion maybe to give Shobdon a call to get their surface wind, looking at Google Earth Shobdon looks to be about 8 miles to the south west of the hotel.

James, would the final call to report letting down be to London Information.
