Ok, seeing as we are doing the car thread...
I know so many helicopter pilots who are also into bikes - so what one do you ride?
I'll start the ball rollling:
1997 Triumph Sprint Sport 900 in black
1990 Yamaha XTZ 750 Super Tenere in white & blue
They spend more time gathering dust then being ridden though - the dog doesn't like riding pillion!

This year Catwoman and I bought our first new bike
It is a Triumph Tiger 955 liquid cooled fuel injected 104 BHP 9500 revs
plus we have got top box and panniers for touring
We used to have a thunderbird - loverly bike but we started to do more touring and we needed something more comfortable for the longer distances
The next best thing to flying
Ride safe

To contribute to the thread, i ride a BMW GS 1150. And if anyone has not see the Long Way Round DVD - ewan and charlie thrashing two 1150's to death across eastern europe and beyond i seriously recommend it!
I guess like when i've landed the 22, and thought god i'm still alive! riding the gs leaves an equally big smile on ones face.
One of my mates runs this french place for bikers who cannot handle this gatso full country..
www.flashtours.com, off down there for some r&r in late may.

Welcome nc!
I don't ride a bike, but I had a ride on the back of blme's thunderbird last year. I am still waiting to see if he let me have a go on his new toy, but meanwhile I think I should get me some leathers!!

We have watched The Long Way Round DVD - fantastic
We were glued to the TV set
Definitely recommend watching it, apparently the book is excellent too!
Wouldn't want to actually take the same route as them though. Don't mind going across Europe, or somewhere like Ireland or Scotland. Some friends of our bought some motorbikes on the East Coast of America and road them across America on Route 66 and then had the bikes packed onto a ship for England.

I've got a Yamaha XV535 Virago but she's off the road at the moment
I'll get her sorted and back out there when I can afford to... I've promised myself that. |

I am a bit of a bike freak myself. I started riding way (and I mean WAY) back when I was a young 13 year old that worked all summer to save up 350.00 dollars and purchased a brand new Kawasaki 100 cc on off road bike. I have owned many bikes since, all were Japanees made. I still have a 96Yamaha Virago 1100 cc (that is now Ms Medpilots), and a 99 YZ125 that I like to get dirty on. My real pride and joy is a 2002 Harley Softtail Standard that has been modified somewhat. That baby is nice and loud.
Its a toss up what I have more fun doing riding or flying!!!!!! |

I read Ewan's book excellent read but if you have seen the DVD you are not learning much by reading the book.
Ewan and Charly are excellent chaps. _________________ Regards
