Ah yes, it's sort of on this thread where we were discussing other venues too.

However, it's reminded me of one other great place to stay with a heli in Devon, is the Kitley House Hotel; not really Dartmoor, but close!

Good idea James. We are all getting a bit carried away with folk legends, get-togethers for next year and completely forgetting the original theme of the thread Rolling Eyes

Really?! Wow. As it happens, a friend of a friend got married there earlier this year! Very Happy (I recognised it from pics on Facebook!)

Mrs JTL and I stayed there some years ago (without heli), and loved it. Great food ISTR, marred slightly by a very heavy cold I had at the time - I'm sure it tasted wonderful!

How long ago were you based down there, Jen?

My parents live in Plympton - just east of Plymouth. I lived down there for 6 years but moved up to London 13 years ago. I still visit the old folks regularly though - I'll be down for xmas.

Ah Plymouth Smile Happy Memories.

Did a lot of my initial sea training at University there... Sea survival on my 18th birthday, firefighting at Camel's Head fire station.

Used to stay with a little old lady call Ethel - she charged 5 per night bed breakfast and evening meal! Proper grandmother style food too!

More recently did my Ship's Captain Medical Certificate at Interdive and stayed near the Hoe.
