Me and BLME went off for a motorbike ride-out today to Matlock in Derbyshire - about 80 miles away from where we live. Hundreds of motorbikes (+ owners of course) when we got there. Amazing little town.

There is an attraction at Matlock called the 'Heights of Abraham' - it is a cable car system high up in the hills. I haven't had chance to call it up from Google yet to get all the info, but it looked pretty spectacular - if you don't mind heights (which I absolutely hate!!!!) except when I am in a heli!! When I get more info I will post.

If you only saw the Cable Car - you missed the best feature in the area (well one of two). Crich Tramway Museum and Lea Tea Rooms for the best cream tea you can manage this side of Devon!

Motorbikes on a Bank Holiday are a feature of Matlock Bath - like the Ravens at the Tower of London..

We do intend to go back to Matlock, and the cable cars, on a weekday. Away from Bank Holiday and/or school holiday 'persons'!!! Will do my research on 'what to do' before we go back.

Will also try Crich Tramway Museum and Lea Tea Rooms as well!

Motorbikes were very much in abundance - more bikes at Matlock than the 'Ravens at the Tower'!!!! And a lot more colourful as well.

Heh - you often can't move for bikes in Matlock on a weekend!

And, just to bring it back to helicopters - Treasure Hunt visited the heights of Abraham...

I'll get me coat. Rolling Eyes

Cool

Also James T, when was the Treasure Hunt programme viewed at the Heights of Abraham?? Was that in Anneka Rice's time? Or Annabel Croft's version?

Err, I couldn't quite remember clearly when I posted, which is why I didn't mention who. I have a feeling it was an early Anneka show. I'll check though.

Right, it was Anneka.

Series 3, Episode 12, aired 14th March 1985 (Blimey, look at that, over 20 years ago!)

Their clue was "Ascent Alpine-style to the scene of Wolf???s victory, then seek shade on the terrace"

I've just found a nice little website that contains episode details here- I'd not seen that one before!
