James, I didn't get many pictures of myself (obviously) as I was taking the pictures. The only reason there are so many of you guys is that you seem to be really photogenic and all the pictures of you and Miss Helen turned out really good!

Wasn't "picking on you", honest, but if you don't like any of the pictures and want me to remove them let me know!!

Lee,

It's the little football pitch at Barnsdale Hall Hotel, next to the car park. Keep watching this forum and you'll see if there are any events or get-togthers coming up. You're more than welcome to come along to one of them, the more the merrier.

Barnsdale's a really beautiful place.

Thank's Sarah, i agree it is a stunning place and to have rutland water right beside you with numerous things to do ie; Golf/ fishing/nature reserve/ raf cottesmore and owl sanctuary all within a few miles and of course the lovely towns of Oakham and Stamford to boot:)
I have never actually been up in a helicopter before infact i have only been up in a 1936 De- haviland Rapide but would love to: Does anyone know of anywhere near me that does flights?

There's Sloane at Sywell, and East Midlands Heicopters at Costock (James T Lowe is the expert on that one!!) but not sure if there are any other schools closer to you.

Lee, I trained at Wellesbourne (HeliAir) and if I remember it costs about ??120 + VAT for a half hour trial lesson, but it will vary at different schools.

Hi Lee,

East Midlands Helicopters have a website here http://www.helicopter-services.co.uk/, which includes a price list.

If you're just looking to charter a helicopter for taking pictures, for the R22 at EMH, it's ??210+VAT per hour (datcon time!).

As Whirlgirl's already suggest I think East Midlands Helicopters and Sloanes are probably your nearest. Arguably EMH at Costock being slightly easier to get to.

That's for an R22, so it would be an instructor plus yourself (2 seats). If you wanted to take more people along and split the cost with them, you could take an R44 which is about ??345 per hour, but you can fit two in the back plus you and the pilot.
