WhirlyGuy and myself are thinking about going to Sywell next Sunday for Lunch, should anyone be around and wish to come over and say hello/have a cup of tea/eat!!

This is weather permitting and subject to us getting hold of an R22. It's our first trip together since we have both qualilfied. If you happen to be around let us know and we can meet up.

Anybody been to the cafe there? What's the food like? Very Happy

Cafe??!!

The Aviator Bar & Restaurant, please!!!

Food is fine, you shouldn't starve. But the website doesn't carry the menu, just the wine list - better decide who's flying back!

Weather and security position in London permitting I should be flying the heli lanes on Sunday, returning to Sywell around lunchtime so could try to meet up.

Sorry, restaurant!! Wink

Great! Fingers crossed for the weather! Still have details to arrange but if it all goes according to plan it'd be nice to meet up. Is Sywell your base? Are you planning to do the heliroutes in an R22?

Yes, I fly with Sloanes who are based at Sywell.

Flight on Sunday will be R44 if it goes ahead - I'm not type rated, so P2 to an Instructor taking my Mum and Dad along for the ride!

Just checked NOTAMs and they are nudging the TRA (which includes H4 closure) forward one day at a time - currently TO 05/07/12 11:00 EST so will need to see how that goes.

Fantastic! I did a similar thing for my mum and dad, although not down the heli lanes. I tricked them into sitting in the back of the heli and then we started up! They didn't suspect a thing and were quite pleasantly surprised to learn that they were about to go flying! Very Happy

My parents have warned me not even to suggest it...

And I probably should fly down to Sywell on Sunday! I wonder if there's any helis free.

Cool! The more the merrier! I am going into Wellesbourne tomorrow hopefully to do some R44 training so I will find out what times I am able to get hold of the heli on Sunday. Hopefully they'll have one available for a couple of hours!

What time are you planning to be at Sywell?

My Helilanes trip is off as the area is still NOTAMed, but I have an alternative planned.

So will be departing Sywell 0900 Sunday and expect to get back some time between 1300 and 1400.

My Heli is booked 1130-1200, and looking back at a previous trip, it's 0.6. So 1230 ish, I reckon.

I believe Whirlygirl/Whirlyguy have a heli booked from 1200.

Do you know which helicopter you'll be flying, rotorcraig?

Probably same for us, around 1230 ish but might be verging on 1300. Do you have your heli for the whole afternoon James? Are lunch bookings required or can you just turn up on spec?

There's no other bookings for the heli for the afternoon, although I said I'd be back around 1600-1700ish. Cool
