WhirlyGuy and myself are planning a trip down to the Kemble HeliDay on Sunday 21st August. Would anyone care to join us? There is some information here on the official site or some other details can be found on the HeliTorque Calendar.

Please post a message here if you are interested. Weather and aircraft permitting we'll be there. Has anyone been before and if so how many helis usually turn up to this one? I think we'll book a table at the restaurant this time, AV8 is very popular we don't want to be turned away hungry!! Wink

I'll come along, if people are going to this. I've never been to the HeliDay, but it's a great airfield, with lots of character.

Check the photos on my site:

Great Adam! I will be nice to see you there! It's PPR so I'll be calling in the next couple of days to find out a bit more. Will report back if I have any further info. Anybody else fancy this one?

Damn!! Unfortunately me and BLME can't make it to Kemble on 21 Aug - we have booked a 'family' get-together in East Yorkshire for that weekend (arranged way before we knew about Kemble Heli Days!)

But, for anyone going to the Kemble weekend - the restaurant is fantastic - food excellent - management excellent - airfield excellent - air traffic control excellent, and very helpful and friendly. Wish we were going Rolling Eyes

Have fun everyone Sad We will be thinking about you all.......... Wink

I'm up for that, subject to helicopters, finances and people being available!

Although typically, it's an F1 weekend - why folks organise helicopter events on a Grand Prix weekend, I don't know. Rolling Eyes Wink This year must hold the record already for the number of Grand Prixs I've watched on video... it's not the same you know, it really isn't!

I just gave them a call on 01285 771177 to find out a few more details. Apparantly they've done this about 4 or 5 times, and at one time they had up to 60 helis turn up!! They also gave me a good piece info:

Free Landing Fees For All Helicopters That Day!!

The restaurant seats about 100 people, but it's first come first served. Apparantly they're not taking bookings but they will be selling food all day and probably some sandwiches on the side just in case everyone doesn't fit into the restaurant.

All I need to do now is try and arrange an aircraft!!

And also, they have special approach procedures for that day, to keep the helis out of the circuit. You approach from the North straigh into what they call the "21 grass" which is a strip of grass that runs to the east of the tower. The grass itself isn't marked, but it is in the Pooley's guide.

I'm looking into passengers as we speak.

Adam.

Yup, I'll be there with Miss Helen. G-ODJB (R22) is booked.

(Though there is an outside chance of the R44...)

I can't tell you which heli we'll be driving that day - we have a choice of about 3, but it depends what's happening that day - we'll probably find out at the last minute!

Looking forward to seeing you all.
