It looks really neat, but is there any special significance or history to this location?
I'm only used to "sand" beaches, not "pebble beaches".
Is the elevation sealevel? I think it is coastal.

You will get a very good rare beef sandwhich for £ 6.50 with free landing fee if you visit The Saunton Sands hotel about 10 miles from the pix
Or if you are near Dunkeswell I will buy the tea/ coffee |

AB; it's a sandy beach - really nice.
The sharp slope a good way off the beach gives great breakers for some really nice surf too. Since the international tourist trade took a high the town seemed to get a bit run down, however my parents took us to the static caravan parks when we were kids and i used to walk up to to the pad and watch through the gate and hope i might get to fly a helicopter and land there one day.
Well i can fly a helicopter...
Not sure about the elevation i'll get back to you.
H500; i can hear the sandwich calling from here, Dunkeswell is a little out the way so i'll take a rain check Thanks.
Is anyone from Lomas a Helitorquer?
or should i say is anyone on Helitorque from Lomas?
Just out of interest for those who have been there what aircraft were you flying? _________________ PPL (H)

My records say 270ft AMSL.
I am sure you know, but make sure you speak to them about their local avoids, there is (or was) a nearby stables to the North. |

Google Earth says FW is closer with about 190-200' in the area of the landing site itself. |

Perhaps you just stopped in the hover at 270' and dropped your passengers off? _________________ DBChopper

DB
Now you are assuming I could maintain an accurate hover at 70' AGL.

Your reputation precedes you, Sir.
And I never said anything about an accurate hover. They may have been a pain in the a**e for the whole flight and been invited to leave quickly _________________ DBChopper

Gary,
Don't know whether to be shocked or touched that you checked my accuracy

Not that this helps much at all, other than to highlight an error, maybe, but Lomas' website gives their elevation as 270ft AMSL.
Given their proximity to a sea/ocean, I wonder if they've measured their own elevation, based on a mean sea level at Bideford, rather than relating the UK mean sea level, as measured at Newlyn.... _________________ J. |
