Hi there, i'm looking for anyone who can help me with self-hiring an R22 or R44 within the East Anglia region. I've scoured the net, and the R44 schools in Norwich are all closed down now (but haven't removed their websites)! The closest i can find is Cambridge airport, but their prices are extortionate!
If you are looking at hour building, another option would be buying some block hours and taking the helicopter off-site (provided you have somewhere to park it and convenient fuel).
That could open your net a little wider for catching a good deal.
Have you thought about having a play in the Schweizer at Norwich if you're burning holes in the sky? Having both Robinson and Schweizer time will certainly help if you are considering instructing down the line, and it will possibly get you thinking about different aspects of your flying.
The R44 is not really that different from the R22, and while most cite the hydraulics as a major difference you already have experience of that from your time on the squirrel. However the H269 and the R22 are quite different beasts.
Ahh lovely. Yeah the 300 is a good point. However the situation i'm in at the moment is that i need a 4 seater helo (and the r44 is the cheapest as far as i'm aware), as my parents refuse to go anywhere near the R22 (a toy helicopter as they put it), and my mother spends 8 months of the year in Thailand and is leaving quite soon :-~ Plus i've got a lil spare time from work at the moment to fly friends and family. Don't worry, when i do finally come round to some serious hour building i'm not going to waste it. Will try and get some london Heli lane/mountain/overseas experience just before the CPL course...providing my bank balance doesn't object!
