We (being me, blme, WGuy & WGirl) went down to Abingdon this year, (me and blme by motorbike, WGirl & WGuy by car!!!) What a fabulous day it turned out to be though - hot weather, spectacular flying, (especially the Extra!! I have flown in one of them!!) lots of amazing aircraft (fixed-wing and rotary) and, also, cute donkeys.............

This event is certainly worth attending and we shall definitely be going in 2006 - probably flying in this time though Cool

I think there may be some photos on the site from last year of us lot at Abingdon Fayre Confused We first met Orange Arm Waver down there as well - Hello OAW Smile

Mark and I flew into Abingdon, that was the scene of the "wheel falling off the Chinook" incident!

Also of the longest Burger Queue in the world ever Rolling Eyes ... we'll be taking a packed lunch next year Smile

Rotorcraig

apologies for the burger queue....we were let down by some caterers not turning up(and then one who did come, had the misfortune of his burger van bursting into flames).
Hopefully there will be more,& more varied catering outlets in 2006

Actually, the burger and tea queue was unusually long - but it is amazing how many people were prepared to stay in that queue!!! Typical Brits and 'genteel' queuing Rolling Eyes A packed lunch!!!????!!! Good idea!!!

And yes, Rotorcraig, that was the scene of the "wheel falling off the Chinook" incident - we have photos of the actual incident itself!!!!..............

Rotorcraig, that would have been Mr Rotorwash marshalling you in.

It was quite novel two weeks ago to see a Chinook displaying with four wheels.
Great show in 2005, already looking forward to 2006, bring it on!!

Hi CW...
(Sits at desk waving at computer whilst American co-workers think - "Crazy Brit!")

Abbo was indeed a good do. Well worth the trip from over here to over there to work it.

I let Rotorwash play with the helicopters Very Happy I had to sort out the fixed wing.
Myself, Oi_Martin, Rotorwash, "Johnson" (- who CW, WG et al met at W-s-M) and the rest of the team will be there all being well.

It is a superb event considering its humble beginnings. In just five years it has moved from just a Chipmunk & two flex wing microlights to an international supported fly-in and airshow attracting around 100 aircraft. It features an exceptionally varied static and mixed airdisplay and has a country show as well. A full day for the family and all for charity.

I know it's a bit early, but is anybody thinking about flying into Abingdon? Last year I drove and I'm NOT going to do that again! Got caught up in no end of traffic!! Thought it might be a nice little navex and a fun day out.

Anyone care to join us?

Ah I remember it well!! The burger queue I mean.

Well actually I have to confess that BLME and myself left our other better halves in the queue whilst we were busy looking at the bomber fly past.

Couldn't miss that now could we!! Smile

I am certainly looking forward to Abingdon again this year. Will be good to meet up with everyone again.
I haven't far to go to this one as I only live in Didcot ( where the power station is)
