Robinson R44 II Raven, G-EEZR
22nd March 2011
Fairoaks Airport
Tail rotor contact with small bush during sloping ground training. _________________ J.
The task to be carried out on the day of the accident, although demanding, was within the capabilities of the pilot. However, although the effects on an individual of a recent family bereavement cannot be measured, it is considered that this was probably the most significant contributory factor in the cause of the accident.
Without being critical, at NATS, there was quite a bit of emphasis on this kind of 'fit for work' thing, early on the the training - and repeated throughout any subject touching on human factors. I'm rather guessing that in the more independent world of Pilot Licensing, that probably doesn't come up all that much in training? (Perhaps any commercial pilot might like to disagree with me on that?)
And for G-EEZR - "The bush has been trimmed" Brilliant! _________________ J.

Interesting, because I postponed my training for a number of months due to a family illness which meant I just wasn't concentrating fully on my training, all is well now though and it's 'full' speed ahead.
