Hi all,

Recently at work we encountered a problem of transferring a nylon rope from one edge of a cliff, river or field with trees, to the other side. Currently this is achieved by firing a plastic missile from one edge to the other. Of course this is not too safe and not accurate. Also needs to take a lot of safety precaution.

The distance is about 150 meters (400 inches). Winds are possible, Outdoor of course. Also elevation of about 10 meters needed (more is better of course)

I thought that an Electric helicopter might do the job, since recently all the electric energy usage has developed drastically to become more powerful, and thought that a fuel powered Helicopter might not be needed for this therefore reduce costs, but not sure whether it is capable to fly for such distance and in such conditions.

Could anyone give an advice of types of helicopters or solutions you might think of would really appreciate it!

for power, convenience and cost petrol is probably the way to go - unless you're very near a power source or the load is very light.

What total weight are you trying to lift and drag?

If light a hand launched powered glider (larger wing) may work depending on the load and line of sight. Basically a controllable missile. Still health and safety issues though - you wouldn't want to feel the pointy end.
